Meet the Founder

For more than 40 years, Custom Design Works, Inc. has been helping homeowners and businesses throughout Hampton Roads bring their ideas to life through thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and comprehensive construction services.

Founded in 1984 and proudly based in Yorktown, Virginia, Custom Design Works has built its reputation around a simple philosophy: make the entire building and remodeling process easier for our customers. From the first conversation and initial design through construction and the finishing touches, our team provides the expertise and resources needed to bring a project together under one roof.

We are a full-service, Class A, bonded and insured contractor specializing in home remodeling, kitchen and bathroom renovations, additions, sunrooms, custom construction, and general contracting. Whether the project is a focused renovation or a complete transformation, we approach each one with the same attention to detail and commitment to quality.

What makes Custom Design Works different is our design-build approach and in-house capabilities. With a large, experienced team and multiple building and remodeling crews, we are able to coordinate many aspects of a project ourselves while maintaining strong relationships with trusted suppliers and specialty trades. This approach allows us to provide our customers with greater convenience, better coordination, and competitive value.

We believe a successful project is about more than simply creating a beautiful space. It is about understanding how our customers live, what they need from their home or business, and how thoughtful design can improve both function and long-term value. Our goal is to create spaces that look great today and continue to serve our customers well for years to come.

Over the decades, our work has earned industry recognition and, most importantly, the trust of generations of local customers. We are proud to be part of the Yorktown and Hampton Roads community and grateful for the referrals and relationships that have helped our business grow for more than four decades.

At Custom Design Works, we don't just remodel spaces, we build solutions around the way you live and work.

From concept to completion, we're here to make your vision a reality.
